Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Bizarre and unique-looking white-eye, endemic to Pohnpei, in Micronesia’s Carolina Islands. Pale brownish-olive overall, with orange legs and a long curved bill; the two other white-eyes on the island, Pohnpei White-eye and Caroline Islands White-eye, are gray and yellow respectively, and both have short bills. Forages actively, often moving about quickly in small flocks in hilly and montane forests. Gives smooth, high-pitched descending “tseer” notes.
