Found in grasslands, usually near water, and may occur in urban areas adjacent to major rivers. Feeds on the ground in pairs or small groups; in the non-breeding season may gather in larger flocks. The similar Saffron Finch is slightly larger, with yellow (not dark) lores, and heavy streaking in females.
