Archbold's Newtonia Newtonia archboldi

Energetic and pugnacious little brown vanga. There is rufous around the eye, which is pale, and the underparts have a buffy tinge. Madagascar endemic that is found in spiny forest and very locally in dry deciduous forest. Constantly on the move through the forest mid-story, usually in pairs. Song is an explosive musical phrase: “chu-pu-wit-twit”. Call is a high-pitched, rapid twitter. Similar to Common Newtonia, but with rufous around the eye, and a different song.
