Identification
Striking warbler known only from Cerro Sipapo, Cerro Guanay, and Cerro Yaví, which are very remote tepuis (table mountains) in south central Venezuela. They are so hard to access that very few birders or ornithologists have ever seen this species. It has a large, white mask that contrasts sharply with its black crown, yellow underparts, and gray back. Like other redstarts, it has white outer tail feathers that flash conspicuously while it forages.
