African Darter on the bank of Makorwane Dam. The African Darter (Anhinga rufa) is a fairly common resident of sub-Saharan Africa that prefers still or slow-moving freshwater habitats. African Darters eat fish and frogs that they spear with their spear-like bill. The sexes are similar – this adult was sitting on the edge of Makorwane Dam in Pilanesberg National Park. Elevation: 1305 m. Date added to IBC: June 20, 2018.
