A juvenile African Sacred Ibis bathing and preening. The African Sacred Ibis (Threskiornis aethiopicus) is found of much of sub-Saharan Africa and also occurs in the Middle East. African Sacred Ibises are predators, taking a range of terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, and sometimes small vertebrates or birds’ eggs. African Sacred Ibises are nomadic, moving long distances to breed during the wet season. This juvenile African Sacred Ibis was enjoying bathing and preening in Lengau Dam in Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa. Elevation: 1305 m. Date added to IBC: April 9, 2019.
