Media notes
Juvenile Bateleur perching. The Bateleur, Terathopius ecaudatus, is a medium-sized eagle related to Snake Eagles. Adult Bateleurs are amongst the most colourful of all raptors, but subadult birds are dull brown with greenish facial skin and are amongst the most confusing species for novice birders to identify. Bateleurs are hunters and scavengers and are found in open savanna and woodland, and have a characteristic side-to-side rocking flight that aids their identification when flying. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 21, 2018.
