Black-throated and Yellow-fronted Canaries eating salt. The Black-throated Canary (Crithagra atrogularis) is widespread from East Africa to southern Africa. Black-throated Canaries feed mainly on seeds, but also take some insects, fruits and buds. This pair of Black-throated Canaries (to the left side of the video) were joined by a pair of Yellow-fronted Canaries (Crithagra mozambica) on a block of stock salt lick – both were eating salt. Elevation: 1146 m. Date added to IBC: February 13, 2019.
