A male Crimson Chat drying and preening his feathers after bathing. Crimson Chats (Epthianura tricolor) are widely distributed throughout the more arid regions of Australia. They are irruptive, responding to improved conditions after rainfall. This male was drying himself and preening after bathing in a flooded claypan just south of the Overlander Roadhouse on the North West Coastal Highway in Western Australia. Elevation: 66 m. Date added to IBC: August 25, 2018.
