A captive female Eclectus Parrot climbing, perching and calling. Eclectus Parrots (Eclectus roratus) are found from the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, Maluku Islands (Moluccas) and far north-eastern Australia. They are known for their extreme sexual dimorphism – the female is mostly bright red with blue plumage and a black bill, while males are mostly brilliant green with touches of red and an orange bill. They mainly eat fruits, flowers, leaf buds, unripe nuts and some seeds. This captive female Eclectus Parrot is in Perth Zoo, Western Australia. IBC scientific name: Eclectus roratus macgillivrayi. Elevation: 6 m. Date added to IBC: May 30, 2019.
