Media notes
An Elegant Parrot drinking at a birdbath. Elegant Parrots (Neophema elegans) are small, 22-24 cm long, and fairly unobtrusive. They tend to sit on the ground until almost stepped on before taking off explosively. Elegant Parrots are found in two disjunct populations – one in south-western Western Australia and the other in south-eastern South Australia. They mainly occur in open forests and woodlands, saltbush, salt marshes and semi-arid eucalypt (mallee) and acacia (mulga) woodlands. This lone Elegant Parrot flew into the birdbath at Stirling Range Retreat on the edge of the Stirling Range National Park in southern Western Australia. Elevation: 224 m. Date added to IBC: October 8, 2019.
