A male Western (Golden) Whistler perching, calling and feeding. The south-western race of the Australian Golden Whistler (Pachycephala pectoralis) is now considered to be sibling species, the Western Whistler, Pachycephala occidentalis. Western Whistlers occupy a wide range of wooded habitats, from semi-arid to moist climate zones. This male Western Whistler was defending his territory by moving from perch to perch in the understory of the moist Karri forest in the Porongurup National Park in southern Western Australia. Elevation: 329 m. Date added to IBC: October 12, 2019.
