A pair of Grey Teals preening on the bank of Lake Monger with a Pacific Black Duck standing and dozing behind them. The Grey Teal (Anas gracilis) is one of Australia’s commonest ducks, and is renowned for its migrations over vast distances in search of suitable habitats. Grey Teals range throughout Australia, and inhabit fresh, brackish and saltwater habitats. They have a varied diet that includes aquatic and terrestrial plants, seeds, small crustaceans and other aquatic invertebrates.This pair of Grey Teals was preening on the bank of Lake Monger, near the Perth CBD in Western Australia, with a Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa) standing and dozing in the shallows behind them.
