Observation details
Singing and occasionally showing well at Tirley Hollow. Found last week by a local birder looking or the Nightjars nearby. Song often with regular “chiff chiff” components typical of Common Chiffchaff but never with the different toned “chaff” element and always distinctly obvious even when the trilling element of the song was not being given. Looked different from other adult Chiffchaffs in the area (which were mainly in worn plumage) by being brighter with yellow throat and vent, pale orangey brown legs, yellow lower mandible and very yellow supercilium behind the bill.
