Media notes
An Imperial Shag preening its chick in the nest. Imperial Shags (or Cormorants) (Leucocarbo atriceps albiventer) nest in large rookeries, often together with Southern Rockhopper Penguins in the Falkland Islands. The species is colonial and monogamous, and their tower-like nests of mud, guano and vegetation are spaced just out of pecking range from their neighbours! This adult was preening one of its chicks while chaotic activity continued in the Shag and Southern Rockhopper Penguin rookery around it. Elevation: 20 m. Date added to IBC: February 5, 2019.
