Media notes
Little Egret hunting - stirring the mud with its foot to flush prey. The Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) is widely distributed in Australia, although it is more common in the north. It is also found in Africa, Europe, Asia and New Guinea. A diagnostic feature is the yellow soles of its feet. This bird was hunting in the drying shallows of Herdsman Lake near Perth. It was moving cautiously, shuffling the bottom with one foot to flush out prey and then darting with its beak to capture it. Elevation: 7 m. Date added to IBC: March 24, 2018.
