Media notes
A pair of Pink-eared Ducks preening. The Pink-eared Duck (Malacorhynchus membranaceus) is poorly-named – its pink ‘ear spot’ is barely visible. Pink-eared Ducks are dabblers, feeding in pairs in the shallows of wetlands, rotating head-to-tail. Pink-eared Ducks are highly nomadic, with their movements linked to rainfall. This pair was perching with some difficulty on submerged stick in Lake Monger near Perth, preening in the late afternoon sun. Elevation: 13 m. Date added to IBC: June 3, 2018.
