Media notes
A Pink-eared Duck dabbling in Booragoon Lake. The Pink-eared Duck (Malacorhynchus membranaceus) is poorly-named – its pink ‘ear spot’ is barely visible. Pink-eared Ducks are dabblers, feeding in the shallows of wetlands, often in pairs, rotating head-to-tail. Pink-eared Ducks are highly nomadic, with their movements linked to rainfall. This Pink-eared Duck dabbling in Booragoon Lake near Perth, straining tiny invertebrates from the water collected in its strange bill. Elevation: 10 m. Date added to IBC: April 26, 2019.
