A Red-gartered Coot swimming and feeding. The Red-gartered Coot (Fulica armillata) is one of several coot species found in freshwater habitats including swamps and lakes in southern South America. They feed on aquatic plants and small aquatic invertebrates. This Red-gartered Coot was swimming and feeding in the Tres Puentes wetland (Mirador Humedal 3 Puentes), in Punta Arenas in southern Chile. Elevation: 4 m. Date added to IBC: March 2, 2019.
