Female Regent Parrot drinking at a birdbath. The Regent Parrot (Polytelis anthopeplus) occurs in two populations in Australia, separated by the Nullarbor Plain. The eastern population occurs in the drier western areas of Victoria and New South Wales and in the Mallee Region of South Australia, where it is rare. In Western Australia the species, also known as the Smoker Parrot, is secure and occurs mostly in the drier southern parts of the wheatbelt. This female Regent Parrot was videoed drinking from a birdbath at the Stirling Range Retreat adjacent to the Stirling Range National Park in southern Western Australia. Elevation: 224 m. Date added to IBC: September 30, 2018.
