A male Ruby-crowned Tanager perching and preening. The Ruby-crowned Tanager (Tachyphonus coronatus) is found in open woodlands and forest edges from the southern Atlantic coast of Brazil south to northern Argentina and west to Paraguay. The all-black male has a concealed crest that is raised when displaying. This male was perching and preeningat the edge of a clearing in the Karadya Birding Lodge and Reserve in northern Argentina. Elevation: 400 m. Date added to IBC: February 20, 2019.
Observation details
This Swainson's Flycatcher was perching on the edge of a track near the Karadya Birding Lodge in northern Argentina. The call is that of the Pygmy Owl.
