I considered that option but wan't at all sure, so am seeking opinions. 

PS Mallards seem to mate with anything with feathers, but not sure about the feather restriction.:-)

It's a fair bet in NZ that any duck about the size of a Mallard and looks vaguely like one is a Mallard hybrid. The million dollar question is: hybrid with what?
