New Zealand White-capped Albatross (Thalassarche cauta steadi) - Swimming close to small boat. New Zealand White-capped Albatross (Thalassarche cauta steadi) is now accepted as a sub-species closely related to Tasmanian Albatross (T. cauta cauta), and a separate species from Salvin's Albatross (T. salvini) and Chatham Island Albatross (T. eremita) - all originally classified in HBW as Shy Albatross (Diomedea cauta). The photos and videos published on IBC show they are all easily identifiable given reasonable views. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
