Emerald Tanager Tangara florida Scientific name definitions

A striking, light green tanager with a black-streaked back, the Emerald Tanager (Tangara florida) is found from northeastern Costa Rica south to Ecuador. Relatively little is known about behavior, population structure, and reproduction in this species. Listed as an IUCN species of "Least Concern", the global population and its population trends are still unknown. This species typically resides in lowland and montane evergreen forests, but  occasionally uses secondary forest and forest edge habitats. Typically consuming a variety of fruits and insects, the Emerald Tanager often is found individually or in small groups within a mixed-species flock.
