Arnau Bonan

Arnau Bonan (Barcelona, 1973) is a Biology graduate of the University of Barcelona. He has provided ornithological expertise on a freelance basis to a number of companies, public administration bodies and scientific institutions. He has a particular interest in steppe birds and has engaged in studies of such species as the Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus), Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni), Little Bustard (Tetrax tetrax), Pin-tailed Sandgrouse (Pterocles alchata), Black-bellied Sandgrouse (Pterocles orientalis), Dupont’s Lark (Chersophilus duponti), Calandra Lark (Melanocorypha calandra) and Lesser Grey Shrike (Lanius minor). He has been involved in producing the technical documents of the Recovery Plans for these species in Catalonia. He is an active ringer, has been responsible for a number of Constant Effort sites, who has also taken part in several ringing campaigns in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands during both migration seasons, these including the Piccole Isole Project for the study of passerine spring migration. One of his principal roles at HBW Alive is to link videos, photos and sounds from the Internet Bird Collection (IBC) and other websites to the HBW texts, so that they are accessible by clicking on the links provided. He is also involved in checking all the new material in the IBC, correcting misidentifications and resolving any queries raised by its contributors.
