P. L. Sclater, 1870,
Has been considered conspecific with C. demissa by some authors, but recent genetic analysis#R shows present species is closest to C. antisiensis and C. baroni (which see). Race cisandina was formerly considered a separate species; named taxon furcata, described from N Peru as a separate species, has been shown to be referable to immature plumage of cisandina, of which it is a junior synonym#R; proposed race griseipectus (E Ecuador) indistinguishable from cisandina. Three subspecies recognized.
