Reichenow

Malangali, Usafua, Rungwe district, south-western Tanzania

.

Frequently treated as conspecific with A. caroli, but differs in its rufous-tinged buff vs greyish-white to pale yellowish underparts, latter in some subspecies with rufous-tinged buff lower flanks and vent (3); very different voice, a high rapid trill vs a repeated high note describable as a trill but far slower, so that scores can be given for pace (3), number of notes (4) and note-length (ns[3])#R. Proposed race rothschildi (Simba, in C Kenya) synonymized with nominate. Two subspecies recognized.
