Dendrocolaptes certhia puncti-pectus
Phelps, Sr and Gilliard, 1940,
La Sierra, Río Negro, Perijá district, Zulia, Venezuela.
Hitherto considered conspecific with D. sanctithomae, but differs in its song#R, which consists of the same number of whistles but which, instead of being markedly upslurred throughout, start flat in pitch and become progressively overslurred, hence much narrower frequency range on first notes (3) and lower maximum frequency over entire song (2); plus larger size (at least 1); and indistinctly mottled vs barred chin and throat (1). Proposed race hyleorus (Magdalena, Colombia) doubtfully distinct. Monotypic.
N Colombia (middle Magdalena Valley S to Santander, also Norte de Santander) and NW Venezuela (Maracaibo Basin in Zulia and N Mérida).
