Closely related to E. vestita and particularly E. nigrivestis, differing from latter in its broad iridescent green vs narrow dull dark green sides (moustachials) of violet-blue gorget (3), greener rump (1), paler, more bluish undertail-coverts (1); smaller size (effect size for bill −7.44; score 3)#R. Monotypic.
