Introduction

Green-throated Carib Eulampis holosericeus is a resident of the Lesser Antilles, ranging north to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. This species occurs in a range of habitats, including wet forests, semi-deciduous woodlands, and second growth, although its distribution may vary among islands across moisture and elevational gradients. Although this species is a resident, some individuals may disperse to wetter areas in post-breeding movements. The male is a rather large hummingbird, at least for its range, green overall with brilliant green gorget bordered by metallic blue and a black belly.
