Closely related to †A. kervazoi, both being close to A. aegyptiaca#R. Monotypic.

Distribution:

Mauritius#R. Known from numerous travellers’ reports and two carpometacarpi#R.

Extinct probably since late 17th century#R. Demise evidently due to hunting, and possibly also effects of introduced predators.
