Systematics History

Closely related to †A. kervazoi, both being close to A. aegyptiaca (1). Monotypic.

Subspecies

Extinct probably since late 17th century (1). Demise evidently due to hunting, and possibly also effects of introduced predators.

Distribution

Mauritius (2). Known from numerous travellers’ reports and two carpometacarpi (3).
