Hitherto considered conspecific with L. melanoleuca, but differs in its mid-grey breast with scattered lengthwise dark shaft-streaks vs grey-and-white-barred breast in female (3); less extensive white on wing-coverts, generally creating a shorter lateral patch (1); somewhat shorter wings and tail although not bill (effect size for male wing −4.81, score 2); “longest whistles” in every song phrase shorter, range 0.05–0.22 s vs 0.17–0.45 s (effect size 2.11, score 2); and slightly higher frequencies in whistles in every song phrase, range 1650–1950 Hz vs 1500–1700 Hz (effect size 1.56, score 1)#R. Diet unknown, but presumably insectivorous, or largely so. Occurs singly or in pairs, in groups or with mixed-species foraging flocks.
