Taxonomy

French: Merle à lunettes German: Nacktaugendrossel Spanish: Zorzal caripelado
Taxonomy:

Turdus nudigenis

Lafresnaye

, 1848,

Caracas, Venezuela

.

Appears to form a clade with T. rufiventris, T. maculirostris, T. grayi and T. haplochrous#R, and also now T. sanchezorum (which see). Often considered conspecific with T. maculirostris; has in the past been thought to be conspecific with T. grayi, but differences too great to warrant such treatment. Single specimen of race extimus recently found to be highly distinct genetically#R. Two subspecies recognized.
