White-browed Antpitta Hylopezus ochroleucus Scientific name definitions

Until recently, White-browed Antpitta still was considered conspecific with Speckle-breasted Antpitta (Hylopezus nattereri) of the southern Atlantic Forest, but it now is separated on the basis of its strikingly different plumage, especially the white supercilium, and vocalizations, as well as its quite different habitat preferences. The two species are allopatricd, with White-browed Antpitta inhabiting better developed semi-deciduous and caatinga woodlands of northeast Brazil, between the states of Ceará in the north and Minas Gerais in the south. In general plumage, White-browed Antpitta is a typical member of the genus Hylopezus. Like other antpittas it forages on the ground, but there have been no detailed studies on any aspect of its diet, foraging behavior, or reproduction.
