Identification
Tiny, ornately-plumaged flycatcher of bamboo forests. White below, black above, with a large white cheek patch, orange crown, forehead patch, and yellow back. Forages singly or in pairs in the crowns of bamboo; local and usually only found in pure bamboo patches with tall bamboo. Listen for its song, a chirping series of musical notes “pur pep-pep-pep-pep.”
